Heck yeah we do! We always make sure we have something in-house to satisfy most dietary restrictions.
For vegans, we have muffins, our yummy vegan gluten-free granola bars, veggie rolls and a variety of fresh salads. Try the quinoa salad… it will blow your mind! For the hot bevy lover, Wild Earth also carries organic soy milk, specifically designed for barista use, so it steams up beautifully!
Want sugar-free items? Baby, we got those too!! We carry sugar-free three-bite brownies and muffins. All of our sugar-free baking is done with Stevia and Agave. Both are low on the glycemic index, and are a healthy, natural alternative to artificial sweeteners.
Wild Earth Bakery is big on gluten-free. We’ve heard a constant demand for more, more, more - so our line of celiac-friendly goods is constantly expanding. Muffins (which are also dairy-free), biscotti, cookies, breads, brownies, salads, and soups are just the tip of the iceberg! We even have our gluten-free monster cookie dough for sale in our take-and-bake freezer.
We can also make sugar-free, gluten-free, or vegan cakes for order. For specialty cakes, please place your order with at least 48 hours notice. To place an order for a specialty cake today, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
We sure do! Gift certificates are available in $10 increments at our 99 street location. At our Laurier location we now have reloadable gift cards available, how cool is that?! Pretty cool.
We do not have nutritional information for any of our product at this time. But don’t fret, my pet, it’s something that we are considering. In the interim, we are always happy to provide you with a list of ingredients so you know what goes into those tasty treats.
We do not make sheet cakes. All of our delectable cakes are available as rounds only. Every cake is three layers of moist, delish cake smothered in our rich icing, (your choice of three different icing types – buttercream, Italian buttercream or cream cheese icing).
Fondant cakes are right up our alley! Wild Earth Bakery & Café has recently launched Wild Cakes. Our bakers are happy to create a one-of-a-kind fondant creation for any special event. Weddings, birthdays, graduation - you name it and we’ll create it! The best part is our homemade fondant - it’s delicious!
As a general rule we do not make shaped cakes. That said, our bakers are crazy-creative and talented, so if you have a shaped cake in mind, give us a cake consult call – we just may be up for the challenge.
For most orders we require only 24 hours notice. But heck, we’ll do a last-minute order if you accidently forgot that special someone’s birthday! You may not get the elaborate, seven-tiered princess cake of your dreams with only three hours to go, but we could absolutely prepare you an amazing carrot cake that would please any princess (or prince for that matter)!
Wedding cakes require at least one week’s notice.
Specialty cake orders, gluten-free, sugar-free, or vegan must be placed at least 48 hours in advance.
Absolutely! We can delivery to anywhere within Edmonton's city limits. To receive a quote on delivery please contact Chelsey at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
We believe that coffee should be like our scratch baking, made fresh from the finest ingredients. Our baristas are extensively trained (by Chelsey, who takes cappuccinos extremely seriously) in traditional Italian style. Think rich micro-foam and rosettas.
Our new and improved espresso beans are provided by Danesi. Yep, that means our espresso is made by one of the finest roasters in Rome, renowned for their focus on tradition and quality. Basically, this means that in every one of our lattes, you taste over a century of experience and quality.
Our drip coffee is provided by local roaster, Goccia; artisan blends of some darn-tootin' good beans. Come on in and try a sip of our latest feature roast, Tarrazu. A Costa Rican coffee that have you tappin' your heels in caffeniated delight!
Fair-trade is something very near and dear to our hearts. All of our coffees are ethically traded, multi-region blends. We have yet to find an organic blend that meets the high quality standards of Wild Earth or Goccia coffee. Rest assured, lovelies, we are constantly on the lookout for new blends that will provide you with the greatest cup of joe around!
Getting coffee to go? Wild Earth is an eco-friendly company so all of our cups (and any of our take-away containers) are 100% compostable, made from recycled products and sent by carbon-neutral shipping.
Wild Earth is always on the look-out for innovative, fun-lovin’, creative individuals to join the team. To see what positions are currently available please check out our job posting page.
Absolutely! Resumes can be sent to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Please be sure to include what position you are applying for and a little blurb about yourself. That said, call us old-fashioned, but we prefer resumes to be submitted in person at the café. Stop by, say hello and dazzle us with your fabulous personality and amazing resume.
While we can’t fulfill every charity request, we’d love to hear about your event and see if Wild Earth can help. All donation requests must be submitted in writing to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Consideration will be given to local organizations only.
We don’t believe in picking favourites, however, we are big fans of the North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society. As well, we donate all our day-olds to three different in-city charities.
No, we are not associated with Wild Earth Foods, we are only associated with Wild Earth Catering and Wild Earth Café.
Long story short: Joanne Bateman of Wild Earth Foods originally owned and operated the bakery. In May 2008, Greta Sieben and Dee Bateman, Joanne’s sister, purchased the bakery. While we are two separate businesses, no matter which Wild Earth you frequent, you are patronizing a locally-owned and -operated business with a strong commitment to community. Now how sweet is that?!
Sure do! You can reach the grocery store at 780.439.4555.

CAFE OWNERS & BAKERY ENTHUSIASTS
If ever there were people livin’ the dream, it’s this dynamic duo. After dabbling in many professions (lawyer, contractor, grocer, Doula... just to name a few), Greta and Dee finally decided to realize their dream of owning a bakery. In May 2008, they purchased Wild Earth Bakery & Café from Dee’s sister. Since then they’ve transformed a neighbourhood hang-out to a bustling hub of urban warmth. Avid travelers and self-confessed chocoholics, Dee and Greta bring a world of awesome sweet treats to Edmonton.
GENERAL MANAGER & COFFEE AFICIONADO
Chelsey joined the Wild Earth crew two years ago after talking herself into a job at the café. Since then, this self-confessed caffeine addict has transformed our coffee program from a so-so affair to the bliss of a traditional Italian barista, complete with micro foam and rosettas. Through her caffeinated haze, Chelsey continues to talk her way into new and exciting ventures at Wild Earth. Taking the role of the “wizard behind the curtain”, she continues to grow and develop our wild brand. As the brand develops, she’ll have you holding a latte and tapping your heels, dreamily saying, “There’s no place like Wild Earth.”
CATERING CHEF
Kris has been with Wild Earth since its humble beginnings. After a brief sabbatical from Wild Earth, he’s back and better than ever. The mastermind behind our amazing savory items, Kris provides a unique (and tasty!) twist to our home-style cookin’. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also the heart and soul of Wild Earth Catering, bringing our tasty treats out to the streets! He’s Wild Earth’s very own Energizer bunny.
HEAD BAKER
Leanne is Wild Earth’s head baker, cake master and resident glutton. Her breakfast of champions almost always includes some form of cake. A recent graduate of NAIT’s baking program, Leanne quickly rose through Wild Earth’s ranks with her exceptional talent. Seriously, this girl can just look at a cake, and it’ll bake fluffier and moister. You can call it cake voodoo if you like, but we simply call it awesome.
BAKER
Amy is the kitchen’s comic relief. She’s always the first to crack a joke whilst crackin’ some eggs. Amy’s mad comedic skills don’t compare to her insane cake decorating talent. It’s a fact. Every cake made by Amy has an extra dash of awesome thrown in there. Along with Leanne, they are unstoppable, creative, cake decorating mad women.
BAKER
Holly is a baking ninja. She moves stealthy about the kitchen, whipping up tiramisus and beating meringues into amazingly soft peaks. Be careful though, she may look sweet and timid, but challenge her to a Star Wars trivia battle be destroyed, you will. Grasshopper, a baking ninja is never one to be trifled with... unless, of course, you’re a truffle.
CAFE MANAGER (MILLCREEK)
Carolyn is Wild Earth’s poet laureate. Everything from the guffaw-inducing cake descriptions in our showcase to the amazing talent performing Friday nights stem from her dedication to the arts. On top of all that, Carolyn is a pivotal member of our management team and a killer barista. Crazy. I know, right?
Let Carolyn’s fantastical writing envelope you with Wild’s Earth very own saga, Sally Relish. We would tell you it’s awesome, but we think that goes without saying!!
CAFE MANAGER (DOWNTOWN)
If we had one word to describe Francois, it would be flair. And boy, he has loads of it!!Francois is the café’s francophone powerhouse, blowing bilingual minds with his amazing customer service. He is constantly raising the bar on our service and challenges the rest of the staff to improve with him. Soon, Francois will be taking his show on the road as manager of our downtown location, opening this winter. Downtown is about to get a lot more fabulous.
CAFE MANAGER (LAURIER)
Emily is Wild Earth’s resident fashionista barista. A classically trained viola player, Emily brings a touch of class to everything she does, and her work at Wild Earth is no exception. Her dry wit and gravity defying bouffant will leave you nostalgic for the good old’ days, while her barista skills will leave you craving just one more cup. This fall, look for Emily’s class act (and amazing hair) as manager of our Laurier location.
BARISTA
Matt is like an early morning ray of sunshine in café, bringing a warmth that is sure to brighten your day. The first to challenge and pass the barista exam, Matt is constantly striving to serve the perfect cup o’ joe. His affable nature is contagious; we dare you to try not to crack a grin while he whips up your order. Actually, we double dog dare you.
We don’t want to brag about how fantastic working here is. We’d really like to, but we won’t. We can tell you that we hire fun people, who get along great with each other and our customers.
We need people to work up front at the counter and behind the scenes with the ovens and the pastries. Have a peek at our job listings, and, if you see something you think you’d be great at, send us an application.
Our flagship location ain't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill cornershop. Nope, 8902 99 street has been a mainstay for the residents of the Strathcona and Mill Creek area since the Great Depression. So sit back friends, and let me tell you a tale about a little building that could.
Ol' 8902 originated in 1932 when Tubby Bateman opened up a small butchershop next to the neighbourhood Red & White grocery store. It started off as a small simple affair, heck with only 500 square feet it had to be! Tubby continued to grow his business, and eventually, in 1948, he purchased the Red & White grocery store.
Over time Ol' 8902 would undergo a series of renovations and transformations. Milk Bar, pharmacy, rumpus room, you name and the building had it! Tubby was onto one thing, the neighbourhood needed a hub, a bustling place for the fine folks of Strathcona and Millcreek to gather.
Throughout the years, tenants would come and go, but the Batemans remained connected to Ol' 8902 and the Strathcona 'hood. In 2002, Dee Bateman opened up a Booster Juice in the very spot where her grandfather launched the whole Bateman shebang. In 2005, Dee's sister Joanne purchased the space, along with the adjoining Bateman's IGA, and turned it into Wild Earth. Ol' 8902 was once again renovated and out of the drywall rubble, a bakery was born.
It was in 2008 when things took a wild turn. Dee had a taste for the far-out, fun, fabulousness of 99 street and came back wanting more. Along with her business partner, Greta Sieben, they purchased the bakery and soon after undertook in what can only be called Extreme Makeover: Bakery addition. Some called it crazy, and it kind of was, but two years and a heck of a lot of drywall later, Wild Earth Bakery & Café opened its doors to a new renovated space. Twice the seating, twice the kitchen space and even more room for its products, oh my!
And what of Ol' 8902? Well, it's just as sassy and classy as ever with a couple new coats of paint and a pretty nifty interior. Stop by and check out a little bit of Edmonton history in Bateman corner (northwest nook in the bakery). Take in a tribute to the Bateman family and their connection to the Mill Creek community while sitting back on Bob and Anita Bateman's first couch from the 1960's.
Got some history with Ol' 8902 that you would love to share, well heck, we'd love to hear it! Share your most excellent adventure with us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)!
The phrase "easy as pie" has kind of given cake a bad rap. But it's not like you have to climb Everest to get your taste buds on an exquisite Red Velvet with cinnamon spice buttercream icing.
You build it, we'll bake it. With our Build-A-Cake program, "Easy as cake" is about to become a phrase you'll remember. Look through our flavours, our icings, our frills, and our fills to make a cake that will melt in your mouth and blow your mind. It's no small task, but it's one we love. Our cakes are customized and freshly baked, all with you in mind. View the custom cakes brochure.
We do fondant cakes, too! They're a great addition to your beautiful wedding ceremony and a jaw dropping way to celebrate a birthday. Have a peek at our order form to learn more about what we offer, or contact us (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) to book your very own cake consult.
